Local emerging performing artists will stage a theatre production of John Patrick Shanley's Women of Manhattan. The two week run, of ten performances, is planned to co-incide with International Women's Day, with profits going to the NSW Women's Refuge Movement. The play is scheduled to be performed at the TAP Gallery Theatre in Surry Hills. We will be hosting a VIP pre-show event on International Women's Day, the 8th of March. This event will feature not only a sneak preview of the play, but guest speakers from local women's organisations, a musical performance, canapes and drinks. The two week season of Women of Manhattan will begin the following week from the 14th of March.

We will also feature a Show and Tell segment themed "Scanties and Stilettos" involving the guests, each speaker allocated 5 minutes to speak. A parade of historical underwear and shoes and readings on the theme from the local writers group.

And despite decades of debate in Australia about race and belonging, for Muslim women the conversation rarely progresses beyond narrow, provocative comments about their personal choices and Islamic religious, or sharia law. Prof Muhammad Yunus established the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh in 1983, fueled by the belief that credit is a fundamental human right. His objective was to help poor people escape from poverty by providing loans on terms suitable to them and by teaching them a few sound financial principles so they could help themselves. Professor Muhammad Yanus, founder of the Grameen Bank who will talk on 'Abolishing Poverty – The Human Rights Priority'
Prof Muhammad Yunus established the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh in 1983, fueled by the belief that credit is a fundamental human right. His objective was to help poor people escape from poverty by providing loans on terms suitable to them and by teaching them a few sound financial principles so they could help themselves.
